Our Mission at Wild for Life is to provide qualified, professional care, housing and nutrition to injured and orphaned wildlife until they can be returned to their native wild habitats; as well as, educate the public regarding native wildlife, wildlife habitats, conservation and preservation of the precious environment we share. |
Who
we are…
Wild for Life: Center
for Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc. was founded out of love for
wildlife and respect for the environment. Incorporated in 1999,
we are a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, located in Asheville,
North Carolina. Wild for Life is the only established wildlife rehabilitation
501(c) 3 organization within a 50 mile radius of Asheville.

What
we do…
Wild
for Life provides medical, nutritional, and supportive care to wild
animals that have been injured or orphaned. Our goal is to rehabilitate animals and return them back to their native habitats.
We provide educational
programs, internship opportunities, and a great place for groups
or individuals to complete service learning projects.
|
Why
we do it…
Wild
for Life exists because of the need: the need of the animals, the
need of the environment, and the need of the human community. Every
individual wild animal deserves the right to complete its place
in the circle of life. Most animals that come to us for rehabilitation
have had some kind of negative interactions with humans (i.e. habitat
destruction, hit by a car, caught by a pet, gunshot, hit by a lawnmower,
flown into a window, etc.).
Wild for Life feels humans
take so much away from the environment and rehabilitation is our way
of giving something back. Many people want to help when they encounter
an injured animal, we provide a place where they can turn and show
their caring and compassion. It is one living being helping another.

How
do we exist…
- Wild for life is operated
by dedicated volunteers.
- Funding is provided
by caring individuals that believe in our cause. We receive no
state or federal funding.
- In-kind donations
are received from the community.
- Our annual fall fundraiser
provides us with additional financial support and increased visibility.
- We are pursuing other
funding sources such as grants, trust funds, and more.
